New TV Shows in 2015
« on: September 26, 2015, 05:52:33 PM »

Anybody checking out any of the new TV shows? I've added Blindspot to my DVR but haven't watched the pilot yet. Excited about the Muppets, since I missed it back in the 70s.

I watched Blindspot and it was okay. The crime portion was passable but not great. The mystery on the other hand has a lot of potential to it. Hopefully they will go more fro the mystery than for stopping some crime every week.

I also watched Limitless, which wasn't too bad. I like both leads which is good. I also like the fact that while they are doing the whole "you can use 100% of your brain" crap, they also are doing it in a way that isn't outrageous. He isn't omnipotent because of it, he can just remember and use everything. That means he can't suddenly do brain surgery, but if he sits down with medical books he can understand them and figure things out. I'm definitely willing to give it a couple more episodes to see where it goes.

Thought The Muppets was pretty good, there were a number of LOLs for me.

Also, not new TV, but I'm afraid that one of our favorite shows, The Goldbergs, may be done in by the ravages of puberty.  Thank God the mother and brother are still hilarious, because I can't deal with Adam's voice.

I was amused by The Muppets as well. My fiance, however, was unimpressed. I think I have convinced him to give it a couple more episodes before tossing in the towel.

They seem dead set on "evolving" The Muppets.  It's not very good, I'm afraid.  You can't subvert that which has already been subverted.

I still need to watch Mr. Robot and catch up on The Americans (I'm in Ep. 6 of Season 2), plus all the shows I already watch like the ABC sitcoms and The Walking Dead... between watching all that and playing poker at night, I can't imagine adding anything new to the list for this year.

Though I think Andrea wants to try out GRANDFATHERED and/or THE GRINDER from Fox.

I am especially excited about FARGO and NATHAN FOR YOU coming back.  If you have missed previous seasons of either, you should catch up.

You all will have to tell me what's worth it otherwise.

I stopped watching the new Muppets half way through the episode and deleted my Season Pass. SO DISAPPOINTING.

Please finish THE AMERICANS, Butter. IT IS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

And I loved MR. ROBOT too!

It would be much more likely if I got sent on another business trip.  I think I got through like 13 episodes on the trip to and from Seattle a few weeks ago.

I think "The Americans" is (in)advertently one of the sexiest shows on telly.

I know it's old news now but I'm really enjoying "Gotham"

I have just ordered an antenna, so I might be able to start watching things again. Got sucked into Hannibal this summer, still have the third season to watch (savor?)

And while it's an old show, I am counting down the days until Supernatural comes back. I am so totally hooked, it's a bit embarrassing.

I grew up with the original Muppets Show, and was intrigued that this was coming back as a weekly show. I missed last week's opener, but did see tonite's episode. I was not amused. I was ready to give up after 10 min. but 'forced' myself to watch the rest of it. There was one line that got me to chuckle: "The band is always in a happy mood.... Legally". Ha! but other than that, I found it perplexing, to be honest. It has nothing of the boisterous, chaotic feeling of the original series. Maybe it's just me, being an OG and reminiscing of the original series, and maybe this new approach to the Muppets will work for today's TV watching audience. Time will tell. But I won't tune in again.

It's no fun watching The Muppets act like beaten down by life regular people.  The only thing I liked in last night's show was Laurence Fishburne's cameo.

"I had a rough night."
"Oh, I'm sorry.  What happened?"
"I watched your show that SUCKED!"

Me too, Larry.  Me too.

I got sucked into blindspot, the mystery portion of the story is probably the best part. Caught two seconds of Limitless and it didn't catch me.

Anyone catch Heroes: reborn?

"I'll Have What Phil's Having" on PBS is probably my favorite new show of Fall TV 2015.

He's a frequent guest on Adam Carolla's podcast. Always interesting, that man.
