i think i read somewhere of all the homeruns he's hittin' in his career, 9.5% of them came last night.  if dilson herrera isn't ready (which it sounds like he's far from it), scooter's a great fill in for a few years before we're ready to start gettin' them championships

How quickly things can change...

Reds sweep the 4 game stand against the Cards, and feel as good as anytime this season.

Dodgers return the favor and sweep the Reds. Two feet back to earth, and then some.

Argh.... I hope they can win one or two in San Diego!

I personally don't put much into the MLB draft. Seems to me that for 99% it's a total carp shoot. Unless of course you can get a Ken Griffey Jr. or Bryce Harper

Watching the Reds getting destroyed by the Padres. 8-2 now in the 4th. Why is Arroyo still in there? I mean, I love the guy, but really...

Got 'em.

And some super-toolsy shortstop in the "Competitive Balance" round.  Two guys with monster upside.  At the very least, Greene consistently hits upper-90's on the gun, so that sounds exciting.

I think it's fine to let him hit and pitch for a season, maybe two so the Reds can see how he develops.  Especially since as a mega-talent HS arm he'll be severely innings-capped and will have spare time anyway.

But if after that he's still hitting and pitching like a potential two-way all-star I would just use him as a hitter, personally.  Kind of sucks because I'd love to see him do both.  And he seems like a really good kid, too.

But I just don't think you can afford to gamble away first round hitting talent.

It seems like it's a dream for all fans to see someone be a pitcher one day and then a hitter for the days in between starts. If needed, he could DH, but it just seems like it could be done.

Hopefully Shohei Otani gets posted in the off-season and goes to an AL team.  I could see him pitching and then DH'ing or playing a bit of OF on his off-days, as well as being a pinch hitter off the bench.

I don't think he will be a full-time batter, but he could maybe play 2/3 of the time.  If Otani can pull it off, that would change how teams look at guys like Greene and Brendan McKay.

Curious: when you guys have been watching Joey Votto over the years, have you felt like he's a future Hall of Famer? Yes? No? Some of the time?

I like they included both bWAR and fWAR for complete statistical nerdiness.
