Death of the MP3?
« on: May 15, 2017, 11:06:45 AM »

So I've been seeing this floating around.

http://gizmodo.com/developers-of-the-mp3-have-officially-killed-it-1795205540

So what does this really mean?  I feel like their claim that AAC is going to overtake MP3 is ludicrous.  AAC is hardly ubiquitous, I don't have any non-Apple products that support it at all, to my knowledge.

And yeah, yeah, everybody streams everything now.  Get over it.

I'm not converting my music library to another format, so MP3 will be in my life for many years to come.
