David Bowie Book Club
« on: January 02, 2018, 10:14:28 PM »

From Nerdist: https://nerdist.com/david-bowie-book-club-duncan-jones/

As I'm attempting to read more again, I think I'm going to try this, and if anyone else is, we can discuss here.

Of Bowie's 100 favorite books, I've only read 2! https://consequenceofsound.net/2017/08/david-bowies-100-favorite-books/

Up first for February 1 is Peter Ackroyd’s Hawksmoor.

I'll read Hawksmoor with you.  That's been vaguely on my reading list since I was in college. About time I knocked it off, I guess.

I have read I think 16 books on that list.  Out of those 16, I enjoyed 8 of them so that will make it an exciting coin flip as to whether I like anything I read from it.

I thought about joining you for this first book but my library doesn't have it and my eyes hurt after seeing the prices on Amazon.
What gives with this book? Out of print, I guess?

Yeah, looks like it.  OOP and some fools trying to make money on the off-chance someone is paying attention when they surf Amazon.

I'm just gonna pirate it, I guess.

2 copies in the entire state of NC, but I've submitted an Interlibrary loan request. Derek Jacobi reading it on audible is another possibility. So I may not be finished by Feb 1.

I wonder if its availability is better in the UK?

C-L, I was going to offer up a digital copy from our library for you, but we only have print copies...which of course are all checked out/on hold.

Interlibrary loan for the win! The copy I got was from the NC State library - which is actually the closest library to where i live - closer than where I picked it up. It's not due until April 16!
