3/1/2019--Loudon Wainwright III---Ludlow Garage, Cincinnati, Ohio
I still haven't added a couple of 2018 shows but I'll get to that later.

I usually say the more music venues an area has, the better.  But places like Ludlow Garage and Memorial Hall seem to be slowly drawing acts that would previously have played SGHR, Taft Ballroom, and The 20th Century.  The only problem with that--and it is a significant one--is that Ludlow and Memo are pricier than the other venues I mentioned.  That could affect a lot of people who aren't Jeff Bezos or trust fund babies.

I refuse to shut up about Johnny Dowd until the world recognizes his musical genius.  I may lose my voice before that happens but at least I can enjoy the man's music while going mute.

Don't feed trolls by responding to or acknowledging them.

it's may and this is my first show of the year?

5/6 deer tick; blind pig, ann arbor, MI - had never seen them before, and didn't know much of their music. turned out to be a fun bar type band in the vein of allman bros, jayhawks, old neil young, and maybe a bit of the eagles. damn those loud talkers, yes, you middle aged women hanging by the bar who TALKED THIS LOUD THE WHOLE NIGHT and really took it up a level during the quieter songs. why? why do people do that? could you go to a bar and be that obnoxious without ruining people who want to see a band? why are ppl so myopic these days and have no regard for others and their enjoyment?

1. 5/6 deer tick; blind pig, ann arbor, MI - had never seen them before, and didn't know much of their music. turned out to be a fun bar type band in the vein of allman bros, jayhawks, old neil young, and maybe a bit of the eagles. damn those loud talkers, yes, you middle aged women hanging by the bar who TALKED THIS LOUD THE WHOLE NIGHT and really took it up a level during the quieter songs. why? why do people do that? could you go to a bar and be that obnoxious without ruining people who want to see a band? why are ppl so myopic these days and have no regard for others and their enjoyment?

3. Okkervil River, the magic bag, ferndale, mi - played as a stripped down trio, sheff singing and acoustic guitar, another guy on electric lead guitar, and the bassist/percussionist. had the opener (lip talk - single female with keyboard, also quite good) up for a few songs too. this was a rarities and request tour, so i knew few songs, but really enjoyed the show. he interacted with the crowd quite well, and the folks were quiet and respectful during the show, what a great evening to enjoy some good music. played about just over 1.5 hours. one song, mermaid, stood out as the one i liked the best; incredible guitar part that sounded like water falling! check them out!
