Hmmm, I like this. The character even mentions going to a GBV show in NY. Kinda funny.

Read the lyrics, and while remotely linked, I don't know if they quite fit.

I know Lush's Light From A Dead Star quite well. Not sure why I didn't think of it. The title and lyrics both fit. Might use that. We'll see.

Just be careful how you do it, otherwise you may run the risk of another Todd McFarlane/Tony Twist-style fiasco (link provided for those unfamiliar)

As a comic nerd, I'm WAY aware of this case and its implications. It's literally changed the face of parody. It set a pretty scary precedent.

At any rate, I'm not gonna base any characters on indie rockers or anything. I simply want to make sure readers understand she digs some stuff that mainstreamers have never heard of. A casual mention of a band's name or a song title shouldn't get me in any trouble. I'll probably seek permission to use their names anyway, just in case, because I'm anal like that, but I doubt I'd even need it.

Heh....me too.  I don't have any songs with the phrase "me too" in the title, so I can't be all tricky.

Yeah Yeah Yeah's - Cold Light is the only one I've got that hasn't already been mentioned.  I think UNKLE's Rabbit In Your Headlights is good - it's sung by Thom Yorke, so there's the Radiohead tie-in too.  But I don't know how much that ties to your story.

Yeah, I couldn't find one in my catalog either.  I think that's a good thing, though:  I tried google, and the only song entitled "Me Too" that I found was by Toby Keith.

I don't have a have an MP3 list to search.  Wish I did, but that's another story.  All of these came from the top half of the monolithic wall of music in my living room.

Afghan Whigs - Step Into the Light
Dumptruck - Autumn Light
Lush - Sweetness and Light
The Boo Radleys - Towards the Light
Elvis Costello - The Big Light
The Flaming Lips - What is the Light?
PJ Harvey - Electric Light
Kings of Leon - Red Morning Light
Codeine - Kitchen Light
Teenage Fanclub - Speed of Light
Acetone - In the Light

Aw, you stole that one from me...

You could go funky with Flash Light by Parliament.

In Violet Light by the Tragically Hip, but that's the album title, so I guess I'm disqualified.
