I'm psychic.

For the record, I wasn't saying Seattle stinks.  I don't know, never been there, but the place does look amazing.  But, I can say, with confidence, that their sports teams do stink (although Xavier McDaniel's cameo in 'Singles' still cracks me up).

Oh, and the Pike Street Market might be a little smelly too.

Now that's a mental image I did not need.

Ugh. I'm out.

Yeah, but it's been flashed so often I am weighed down in more bling then I'll ever need.

Nope.  I have a friend in Seattle who says he lives a few blocks down from her in a trendy yuppie area (Not that I expected anywhere else really).

Have you visited Austin though?  The weather is at least better.  Plus they've got BBQ.....

Never visited Austin, but from what I hear, it get's hotter than hell, and I'm not a fan of hot weather. I've been told that there and San Diego are 2 places to shoot for. Just not much interest in Austin, and I doubt I could afford S.D.

CR, you damn betcha folks better come out to visit! Maybe if all guests like it out there enough, they'll move too. I'm starting a revolution!!

If you charge $5000 a night a Hotel Royale here in Cincinnati, I'm doubting many of us will be able to afford the luxury and price of Hotel Royale in Seattle.  Will there be a Randomville.com discount?

From what I've understood the cost of living in Seattle is on par with all the other major cities, but that was about 5 years ago when I looked into it.  Maybe it's gone down since.

Congrats on the decision.  Hope you pull it off and you will be basking in the rainy mist of Seattle while drinking a good cup of coffee and seeing a great band!!

I have a friend who lives in Tacoma and she loves it.  I enjoyed my visit.  Olympia Nat'l Park is one of the best...not many places offer both a mountain covered in snow and a rain forest.  The vineyards weren't too shabby either.

yeah, aydin liked to train the bartenders from scratch...figuring that experienced ones had already figured out the more sophisticated ways to cheat the bar out of money...

as for seattle...

the regret of not pursuing your goals is MUCH greater than failing once you've tried..and usually leads you to a better place either way...

plus travel is a great educational thingamajigger...

Dave Matthews is probably in Seattle more often nowadays, but he's in Charlottesville a lot.  He has homes in both areas, I guess he splits his time.

JR, you might want to try taking your bartending course at a community college.  They typically have official cert. programs a buttload cheaper than commercial ventures.  I prefer Portland to Seattle as it is cheaper and has just as good of an indie-type scene.  It's only an hour away from Seattle anyway.   But Seattle is definitely nice, and it has a big-city feel that you can't get in Portland.  And hey, no Green River Killer to worry about!
