Outside of shushing people and putting our hair in buns, there is nothing else librarians love to do than dream up ways to piss people off.

If you're not so subtly trying to tell me that this is a first world problem, I'd have to concede the point.  I didn't meant that to be as complainy as it sounded.  Libraries are generally the one place I don't find to be an enormous hassle, and the folks at our library generally go out of their way to fulfill all my first world expectations.  I just don't understand expiring the card with no obvious purpose.

I miss those kinds of posts, so thank you for that.

I wasn't pointing fingers at you, Kwyj.  I was just trying to be silly.

Goal achieved!

My favorite experiences in a library were all when I needed to find something and didn't really know how to do so. Then I asked a librarian, and whoever the librarian was ended up spending like 45 minutes with me getting resources, digging up leads, and making good suggestions. I always felt a little bit like ...
A) they were doing my homework for me, which I then in turn felt like I was abusing the system and thus felt guilty
B) I was wasting their time because it wasn't the end of the world - just a simple request - and they still spent ALL THAT TIME on it
C) they were in their happy place and that my request absolutely made their day better

It's a very strange experience. Librarians are a breed apart.

All good, I took it as such for the most part.  You wouldn't have been wrong to poke at me.
