I watched the Hives' video for "Walk, Idiot, Walk" a bit ago and thought it was great.

It seems that music video making isn't as innovative as it once was. Has anyone else seen a video (or videos) that stand out from the rest?

well, you have to look long and hard because it takes loads of money for innovation for a video.

money that the band doesn't have unless they recoup all costs from album sales.

That aside, has anyone else seen a video (or videos) that stand out from the rest?

Lots of Radiohead videos, of course.  I think Street Spirit is one of my faves of all time.  So graceful and eerie.  The video for Just is great, too.  And UNKLE's Rabbit In Your Headlights is just unbelievably good- I've shown it to people who could care less about the music and they felt the same way...

a simple but powerful video to see is Johnny Cash's "Hurt"

you will not have a dry eye after seeing that.

Similar to that video is the one for Modest Mouse's "Float On".

That song's on EVERY radio format.  I'm pretty sure it's on hip hop stations too.

It's not as well known as some, but the video for Spiritualized Stop Your Crying is great, too... definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it.

(and I agree on the Johnny Cash.  The first time I saw it was at work and we all gathered around the television and watched it quietly til the end)

Yes! I've liked what I've seen so far on "The Alternative." They even showed an Afghan Whigs video!! :D
