Last night we rented the TV movie, Dawn, Portrait of a Teenage Runaway, starring Jan Brady as the 15 year old who runs away from her home and alcoholic mother and ends up in Hollywood - and becomes a hooker!

Brian was disappointed that there were no scenes of Jan taking it "like a man."

Still, though.  Fun!

You paid money for that?  I bet you could have got it at the library for free.

No.  It was dubbed onto a blank tape.  The employees decorated the tape with silver glitter and white-out.   I don't think it's available for normal rental.  We got it at this crazy video place we go to called cinefile  (and no, I don't know why they spelled it wrong).

I rented Bottle Rocket (girlfriend hadn't seen this one before) and Big Fish (still haven't watched) last weekend.

Bottle Rocket was just as funny as I remembered, and well worth a look if you're a Wes Anderson/Owen Wilson fan.

"On the run from Jonny Law -- ain't no trip to Cleveland."

I think Kumar might be my favorite character, though.  Or maybe FutureMan.  :D

Live Forever, a docu about Britpop was entertaining but really not all that insightful.  Still, Noel Gallagher has such a wicked sense of humor.

Lost Skeleton of Cadavra was entertaining for the first 45 mintues then it just got annoying using the same gags ad nauseum.

Yeah...after "Bend in the middle" it just goes gets kind of boring.

Saw Punch Drunk Love last night.  I really wasn't that impressed.  Found it boring and depressing.

Saw both Anything Else (Woody Allen) and The Butterfly Effect over the weekend. I can sometimes dig some Woody Allen, but good lord Anything Else was a bloated talking head fest. Pretty bland, but decent performances from Christina Ricci and Jason Biggs (who was doing his best Woody Allen impression).

I don't know what the negative press about The Butterfly Effect was about. I really dug this one a lot. Ashton Kutcher did a decent job with the source material. Kinda like a much darker Groundhog Day.

Word.  I didn't get the hype.  The cinematography was awesome, but everything else sucked (im my estimation).

Wow.  You guys and my sister agree.  I loved this movie, though.  It has one of the components I love most in a movie - the delicious squirming and feeling uncomfortable.  I don't like Adam Sandler all that much, but I thought he did a more than creditable job.  I do LOVE Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and I'd probably watch him make coffee for 2 hours, so his appearance in the movie probably helped me a bit.

The use of color in this movie was amazing.  I love looking at symbolism in colors and trying to decipher the 'secret' messages the creators of the film are sending.

TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE - If you like animation in any way, you'll enjoy this one.  Different styles of animation are blended throughout, and the exaggeration of the physical features of the characters works really well.  It borders on too weird to follow for parts, but if you stick with it, and don't mind the nearly complete lack of dialogue, it's a visual treat.  My wife was skeptical for the first few minutes or so, but she got into it too.
